Zoe Boyd's Injury Leads to Roster Changes for the Fleet
The Boston Fleet has announced that defender Zoe Boyd will be out on a day-to-day basis due to a lower-body injury. This situation arises just as the new season begins, prompting the team to sign Olivia Zafuto to a 10-day contract to bolster their roster. Although the specifics of Boyd's injury remain unclear, she participated in the Fleet's preseason game against the Montreal Victoire, where she played only 12:05 of ice time.
Boyd, who recently joined the Fleet after two seasons with the Ottawa Charge, was expected to be a valuable addition to the team's defense. In her time with Ottawa, she contributed defensively despite modest offensive statistics, recording three assists over 23 games last season. Although she did not score in the postseason, her performance was instrumental in leading the Charge to the PWHL Final.
With Boyd sidelined, Zafuto, who has previously played for New York, will step in for the Fleet's opening games, including a matchup against the Montreal Victoire.
